Box Score MONMOUTH, Ill. – Playing a must-win contest, the Grinnell College men's soccer team rose to the occasion Saturday afternoon against Monmouth College.
Elliot Meyer '15 scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick with 2:54 remaining in the second overtime to lift the Pioneers to a thrilling 1-0 victory. The victory marked Grinnell's ninth shutout of the season.
The win, which was key in keeping Grinnell in the hunt for a spot in the Midwest Conference Tournament, pushed the Pioneers to 3-2-3 in the league and 7-3-5 overall. Monmouth fell to 5-3-1 in the league and 7-9-1 in all contests.

Isaiah Tyree '15, the national leader in save percentage, recorded six against the Fighting Scots without surrendering a goal.
Monmouth won the shots battle 14-6.
Pearse Narum '17 had two of Grinnell's shots, while Meyer,

Timothy Dooley '17 one each.
Grinnell plays its final home regular-season game of the year Wednesday when Cornell College visits Springer Field. Action begins at 4 p.m.
