Box Score RIPON, Wis. – The Grinnell College men's soccer team finished its record-setting season Saturday by blanking Ripon College 5-0 in Midwest Conference action.
The Pioneers set a school record for shutouts in a season with 11, breaking the mark set in 1994. The shutout was Grinnell's seventh in a row as the Pioneers tied a school record for consecutive matches without a loss with eight.
Grinnell also finished the season with a team save percentage of 0.44, shattering the previous mark of 0.62 set in 1989. For the year, Grinnell outscored its opponents 34-8.
Additionally,
Isaiah Tyree '15 – who leads the nation in save percentage – finished the season with school records in that department (.959) and goals against average (0.22).
Grinnell finished the season with a 5-2-3 record in league play and 9-3-5 mark overall. The three losses are the fewest by the Pioneers since 1994.
Ripon finished at 0-10 in the league and 9-3-5 overall.
Grinnell shot out to a 3-0 halftime lead, as
Antonio Dimarco '18 scored his third goal of the year in the 12th minute on an assist by
Lukas Eng '15,
Elliot Meyer '15 recorded his third score of the year on
Jake O'Polka's '15 assist in the 41st minute and
Joseph Brown '15 scored in the 44th minute.
Brown added his team-high eighth goal of the season in the 54th minute, and
Michael Hurley '16 scored his third goal of the season in the 74th minute.
Tyree worked 72 minutes at keeper and
Major May '17 the final 18 minutes. May had one save.
Grinnell dominated the shots battle 29-3. Brown had seven shots, Eng took four and
Artis Curiskis '18 and Dimarco three apiece.
