Joseph Brown '15 set a school record for assists in a contest while leading the Grinnell College men's soccer team past Buena Vista University 4-0 Sunday afternoon.
Brown assisted each of the Pioneers' four goals, breaking the previous mark of three assists in a game set in 2010 by Mark Rosenberg '11 and tied earlier this year by
Artis Curiskis '18.
Brown now has six assists for the Pioneers, who improved to 4-2-2.
Grinnell led 2-0 at halftime as
Jake O'Polka '15 scored in the 33rd minute and
Benjamin Warner '15 in the 43rd. It was the first goal of the season for both.
Curiskis finished off the scoring with goals in the 67th and 72nd minutes, giving him three for the season.
Isaiah Tyree '15 and
Major May '17 each played a half at keeper, with Tyree making two saves and May one.
Grinnell won the shots battle 20-10, with Curiskis, Brown and O'Polka taking four each and
Michael Hurley '16 three.
With the loss, Buena Vista dropped to 3-3-1 on the year.
The Pioneers return to Midwest Conference action Saturday when Illinois College visits Springer Field for an 11 a.m. contest.
