Box Score 2 NEW YORK – The Grinnell College volleyball team had a strong outing on its New York trip Saturday, defeating Centenary College of New Jersey in straight sets and taking host Hunter College to five sets before falling.
Grinnell defeated Centenary by scores of 25-15, 25-6 and 25-10.
Olivia Fromm had 10 kills and hit a whopping .588 for the Pioneers. Grinnell hit .508 as a team, a mark that ranks fifth in league history.
They had 37 kills and just four errors in 65 attempts.
Emma Willhardt had eight kills and hit .636, while
Margaret Giles tallied 24 assists.
Jennifer Joy served up six aces and
Sidney Litke added three.
Evelyn Weidman and Fromm each had two blocks.
Hunter eked out a 25-19, 23-25, 25-27, 25-20 and 15-12 win over Grinnell.
Fromm had 19 kills for Grinnell and hit .400, while Weidman had 10 kills. Giles distributed 41 assists and served two aces, as did
Deanna Taylor.
Sydney McClendon, Giles and
Jennifer Joy each had 15 digs and
Ariel Lepito had four blocks.
Grinnell is now 2-17.
