LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Grinnell College is back in the Midwest Conference Tournament for the first time since 2012, and the Pioneers are looking to make some noise.
The Pioneers are the fourth seed in the event and take on host and top seed Lake Forest College at 11 a.m. Friday. The other semifinal pits second-seeded Knox College and third seed St. Norbert at 1:30 p.m.
Those winners square off at noon Saturday, with the winner claiming the title and the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
Grinnell and Lake Forest had an epic battle during the regular season, with the Pioneers holding a 2-1 lead until the Foresters scored with under four minutes to go to force overtime. Lake Forest then scored in the second overtime to secure the 3-2 win.
Grinnell owns a record of 10-6-1, the best mark for the team since the 2008 season.
Nick Brule '17 has been an offensive spark all season, tallying five goals and two assists. He ranks third in the league in goals and fifth in points with 12.
Artis Curiskis '18 has four goals, which ranks seventh in the league, and two assists for 10 points.
Antonio DiMarco '18 is also in the mix with five assists, third-best in the MWC, and three goals for 11 points. DiMarco's point total is sixth in the league.

Major May '17 has been nothing short of stellar, compiling a goals against average of 0.90 and saves percentage of .810. The latter figure ranks second in the conference, while the goals against average is third.
Lake Forest comes into the contest with an 11-7 mark. John Cappuccitti and Gaston Aubert leads the conference in goals with seven each, while Seton Trostle is third with five. Cappuccitti is also first in assists with seven and Elyas Ingram second with six.
Cappuccitti and Aubert are first and second in points with 21 and 16, respectively.
On the defensive side, Tero Elias is fourth in goals against average at 1.17.
