Antonio DiMarco '18 has blistered the net with a hat trick.
After recording three goals against Westminster College last Tuesday, the Grinnell College men's soccer senior did so again Sunday at Iowa Wesleyan University.
His scoring output gave him six goals for the season and 21 for his career, a figure that is tied for 10th-best in program history.
The Pioneers built a 4-0 lead through 20 minutes before the hosts rallied to force overtime and eventually a 4-all tie.
Evan Sorenson '19 opened Grinnell's scoring with his first goal of the season in the fourth minute.
Artis Curiskis '18 had the assist, his team-high third of the year. That assist was also the 18th of Curiskis' career, moving him into a second-place tie on Grinnell's all-time chart.
DiMarco then took over, scoring in the 15th minute on an assist by Mike Kamp '18, 16th minute on a penalty kick and 20th minute on Sorenson's assist. It marked the first assists of the season for Kamp and Sorenson.
Iowa Wesleyan cut the lead to 4-2 by halftime and scored twice more in the second frame.
Grinnell managed 17 shots, with DiMarco taking eight of those, Sorenson three and
Francisco Sanchez-Conde '18 and
Ben Heller '18 two each. Keeper
Jared Cloutier '20 had two saves.
Grinnell, 1-3-1, plays at Simpson College Wednesday. Iowa Wesleyan is 1-2-1.
