WAVERLY, Iowa - Grinnell College's
John Lennon '19 earned All-Region cross country honors for the first time in his career Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships.
Lennon placed 14th in a field of 210 runners with a clocking of 25:18.9 over the 8-kilometer route at Max Championship Course. He will find out Sunday if he advances to the NCAA National Championships via an at-large bid.
Gray Streetman '19 and
Lucas Chamberland '21 had their highest-ever regional placings, as Streetman finished 61st in 26:16.1 and Chamberland ran 26:41.4 to finish 81st. Other scorers for Grinnell were
Matt Lieberman '21 (93rd in 26:56.5) and
John Osler '20 (119th in 27:18.0).Â
Others competing for Grinnell were
Jackson Schulte '20 (123rd in 27:21.2) and
Kody Harrison '22 (149th in 28:03.6). The individual champ was Tris Dodge of Carleton College, who finished in 24:51.2.
Wartburg College won the team crown with 52 points and advanced to nationals along with runner-up Carleton, which had 88 points. Grinnell placed 14th with 368 points.
