Grinnell is tops in MWC with 308 Academic All-Conference selections

GRINNELL, Iowa – For the third year in a row, Grinnell College has led all league schools in Midwest Conference All-Academic Team selections with 308.

Grinnell's total consisted of 239 actual student-athletes, some who earned Academic All-Conference honors in two or three sports. St. Norbert College was a distant second with 192 selections.

The criteria to become an Academic All-Conference selection includes a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.33 which is calculated only in the awarded academic year. Freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors who letter in any of the MWC's fall, winter or spring sports are eligible for the award.

Grinnell's dominance can be seen in the fact the Pioneers had the most Academic All-Conference selections in all three sports seasons – 117 in the fall, 102 in the winter and 89 in the spring.
 
Of the 20 league-sponsored sports, Grinnell had the most selections in half of them – men's cross country (17), women's cross country (24), women's soccer (24), women's tennis (seven), men's basketball (18), men's indoor track and field (20), men's swimming and diving (13), women's swimming and diving (21), men's tennis (13) and men's outdoor track and field (20).
