MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Competing against some of the region's top NCAA Division II and III squads, as well as NAIA competition, the Grinnell College men's cross country team fared well at the prestigious University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational Friday afternoon.
Matt Lieberman '22 was first in line for Grinnell, finishing the 8-kilometer Men's Maroon Division race in 27 minutes, 56.6 seconds. That was good for 101st place in the 374-runner event at Les Bolstad Cross Country Course.
Next up for Grinnell was
Bradley Ramsey '24, who took 118th in 28:20.5. Other Grinnell scorers were
Brian Goodell '24 (126th in 28:32.6),
Spencer Skidmore '24 (136th in 28:42.9) and
Kody Harrison '22 (29:22.9, good for 164thplace).
Rounding out Grinnell's top seven were
Carter Williams '25 (167th in 29:27.3) and
Declan O'Reilly '22 (170th in 29:33.4).
The Pioneers were 23rd in the loaded field with 645 points. NCAA Division II Wayne State of Michigan won the meet with 68 points, while the individual champ was Clayton Sayen of Michigan Tech, who ran 25:17.7.
Grinnell takes to the road again next Saturday, competing in the Dan Huston Invitational in Waverly.
