GC women's cross country team displays its talent in loaded field at Aurora meet

GENEVA, Ill. – Grinnell College's women's cross country team thrived in a loaded field Saturday, placing sixth at the Aurora University Invitational at Northwestern Medicine Cross Country Course.
 
First-year sensation Keely Miyamoto '26 again led the Pioneers, placing 10th of 195 runners by touring the 6-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 56.1 seconds.
 
Emma Schaefer '23 was next in line, taking 35th place in 24:55.4. Hannah Roark '26 and Mira Diamond-Berman '25 were right after Schaefer, placing 36th and 37th in 24:58.6 and 25:00.5, respectively. Rounding out the scorers was Talia Harrison '26, who was 46th in 25:24.0.
 
Also for Grinnell, Diana Barba '26 placed 49th in 25:33.3 and Megan LeBlanc '23 claimed 63rd in 25:45.4.
 
Grinnell finished with 164 points, just one point behind the host school. Central College won the meet with 52 points and had the individual champ in Caroline McMartin, who ran 22:43.1.
 
Grinnell will compete at the Augustana Invitational on Oct. 15.
