MONMOUTH, Ill. – Three Grinnell College runners claimed individual awards at the 2022 Midwest Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday.
Keely Miyamoto '26 and
Luke Robinson '26 swept the women's and men's Newcomer of the Year awards. Miyamoto finished fifth of 86 runners, going through the women's 6-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 37.80 seconds. Robinson placed third of 94 competitors in the men's 8-kilometer event, running 25:47.88.
The efforts of Miyamoto and Robinson led Grinnell's teams to runner-up finishes in their respective divisions.
Mira Diamond-Berman '25 claimed the women's MWC Elite 20 Award, which goes to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade point average participating in the championship event. The award recognizes the commitment of the student-athlete toward the pursuit of excellence in both the athletic and academic realms. Diamond-Berman was also an All-MWC performer with a 20
th-place finish.
