NCAA D-III Regional Website

WHITEWATER, Wis. - With wins in four of its last five matches, the Grinnell College women's tennis team enters this week's NCAA Division III Regional Tournament riding high.

Grinnell brings a 19-6 mark into Thursday's first-round contest against Northwestern-St. Paul at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Warhawk Outdoor Tennis Complex. The first-ever meeting between the teams is set for noon, with the winner playing either the host school or Illinois Tech at 10 a.m. Friday.

Grinnell, ranked 35th nationally and sixth regionally, is at nationals for the 11th time in program history. The Pioneers punched their ticket last fall by winning the Midwest Conference Tournament.

Grinnell is led by last fall's ITA Midwest Region champ, Sabrina Tang '23. Tang, ranked third regionally and 12th nationally, has tied the school record for singles wins in a season with a 27-5 mark. Rounding out the tentative singles lineup are Mira Manchanda '24 (14-8 record), Irene Agusti '24 (16-7 record, ranked 43rd nationally), Ioanna Giannakou '24 (15-9), Sophia de los Reyes '23 (13-8) and Lily Perrin '25 (12-7). Erin Jarvis '25 (9-2) is the singles alternate.

Tang and Giannakou, ranked 15th regionally, are the Pioneers' top doubles team and own a 4-4 mark. Rounding out the tentative doubles lineup are the duos of Agusti-Manchanda (0-0) and Perrin-Jarvis (16-3).

Northwestern-St. Paul, 21-3, advanced to nationals after claiming the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) crown last week.

The Eagles' lineup at its conference meet included singles entries Belinda Weddle (15-8 record), Annie Orvis (15-7), Taylor Smith (16-5), Elli Dodge (16-5), Elise Jarchow (21-2) and Analise Marquardt (19-2).
