WHITEWATER, Wis. – Grinnell College players won two of six flights as the Pioneers grabbed runner-up honors in the team race at Saturday's Warhawk Tennis Invitational.

Grinnell's champs came in the form of
Sabrina Tang '23 in No. 1 singles and the duo of
Mira Manchanda '24 and
Kalea Martin '25 at No. 3 doubles.

The Pioneers finished with 44 points, finishing a close second to host University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's total of 48 in the seven-team event.

Tang, the top seed at No. 1, rolled to wins of 6-0, 6-2 over an opponent of UW-Whitewater and 6-0, 6-0 against a foe from Augustana College before securing the title with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over the second seed from UW-Whitewater.

At No. 3 doubles, the top seed from Grinnell won 8-2 against a team from UW-La Crosse and 8-5 against a squad from Carthage College before posting an 8-1 win over the second seed from UW-Whitewater in the title match.

Grinnell had two runners-up,
Utsah Kalra '25 at No. 2 singles and the duo of
Erin Jarvis '25 and
Lily Perrin '25 at No. 2 doubles. Kalra earned wins of 6-0, 6-1 against a player from UW-La Crosse and 7-5, 6-0 against an Augustana player before falling 8-5 to a foe from UW-Whitewater in the final.

At No. 2 doubles, Jarvis and Perrin earned wins of 8-0 against a team from Carthage and 8-4 against a squad from UW-Whitewater before losing 8-4 to another team from the host school.

Sophia de los Reyes '23 took third at No. 3 singles, the same placing as
Irene Agusti '24 and
Ioanna Giannakou '24 at No. 1 doubles.

Grinnell plays at NCAA Division I Valparaiso University next Saturday and begins Midwest Conference play at Lake Forest College Sunday.
