GRINNELL, Iowa – Grinnell College's
Caleb Hoereth '24 has been rewarded for an outstanding season by being voted to the elite unit of the
All-Midwest Conference Men's Soccer Team.
Two other Pioneers,
Dylan Maddux '25 and
Oliver Northing '26, were second-team selections.
Hoereth, from Flossmoor, Ill. (Homewood-Flossmoor), was named to the first team at a defender spot. His overall play helped Grinnell punch its ticket to the MWC Tournament for the third year in a row, earning a spot in the title match the last two seasons. He helped Grinnell's defense rank among the league leaders, giving up just 1.25 goals per match in MWC play. He also contributed to Grinnell's offensive attack with a pair of goals.
Maddux and Northing were selected to the All-MWC squad at attacker spots. Maddux, from Chapel Hill, N.C. (East Chapel High), was also on the all-league team a season ago. In MWC play, he ranked among the top 10 in assists with three. Overall, he was tied for the team lead with five goals, four assists and 14 points.
Northing, from Alamo, Calif. (Athenian School), ranked among the top 10 in league play in goals with four, game-winning goals with two, points with nine as well as shots (27) and shots on goal (11). Overall, he was tied for the team lead with five goals, four assists and 14 points.
Illinois College won the Coaching Staff of the Year, and also had Albert Nimako claim Defensive Player of the Year honors and Reed Rogers earn Newcomer of the Year accolades. Karl Weisenfeld of Lake Forest College was the Offensive Player of the Year and Lawrence University claimed the Sportsmanship Award.
