Miyamoto runs 5th-best 5K in Grinnell women's cross country history

PELLA, Iowa – Keely Miyamoto '26 ran the fifth-fastest 5,000-meter cross country time in Grinnell College history while taking runner-up honors at the Central College Dutch Invitational on Friday.
 
Miyamoto ran the course in 18 minutes, 44.5 seconds, the best Grinnell women's time for a 5K since 1995.
 
Morgan Karow '26 was next in line for Grinnell, taking ninth in the 57-runner field in 20:26.5. Hannah Roark '26 was 13th in 20:37.0, Hannah Roth '27 took 18th in 21:09.6 and Diana Barba '26 placed 19th in 21:14.5.
 
Also for Grinnell, Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 took 20th in 21:32.4 and Sophia Ford '25 placed 21st in 21:41.7.
 
Caroline McMartin of Central won the individual title in 18:19.8 and the Dutch also won the team crown with 25 points. Grinnell finished third behind Loras College with 61 points.
 
The Pioneers host the Les Duke Invitational next Saturday.
