Grinnell wraps up 2024 campaign with strong showing at regional event

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Grinnell College's men's cross country team wrapped up its 2024 campaign Saturday afternoon with a strong showing at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional.


Sam Beck '27 and Connor Heagy '26 were Grinnell's top performers, racing to 71st and 82nd place in the 221-runner field in 26 minutes, 25.7 seconds and 26:40.2, respectively. Two first-years, Jason Newman '28 and Greyson Imm '28, were next in line by running 27:09.2 and 27:18.2. Rounding out Grinnell's scorers was Luke Robinson '26, who finished in 27:19.7.

Grinnell's other top performers were David In '28 and Sebastian Manza '27, who ran 27:47.8 and 27:56.7.

The Pioneers were 17th in the team standings with 497 points. Wartburg College won the team title with 44 points to clinch the region's automatic berth to the NCAA D-III Championships. Isaiah Hammermand of the Knights claimed the individual crown, running 24:14.2.
