ROCK ISLAND, Ill. –
Morgan Karow '26 was simply spectacular Saturday morning, racing to All-Region honors and the fourth-fastest time in Grinnell College cross country history.

Karow placed 19
th of 208 runners at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championship on the 6-kilometer course at Saukie Golf Course. Her clocking of 22 minutes, 17.5 seconds is the fastest at Grinnell since Karow's coach,
Sarah Burnell, ran 22:01 a dozen years ago.

Karow, Grinnell's highest regional finisher since Mikayla Fujiwara was 18
th in 2018, will now have to wait until Sunday to see if she is selected to the NCAA D-III National Championships field as an individual entry.

As a team, Grinnell matched last year's regional finish by taking eighth place of 28 teams. The Pioneers tallied 238 points.

Hannah Roark '26 narrowly missed All-Region honors, placing 43
rd in 23:09.9.
Genevieve Madigan '28 also put together a great race, taking 48
th in 23:22.4.

Rounding out Grinnell's scorers were
Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 (60
th in 23:53.5) and
Hannah Roth '27 (73rd in 24:11.0). Kaczmarczyk's time ranks 40
th in program history. Other top runners for Grinnell were
Emma Wharton-Hsieh '27 and
Tennyson Shultz '28, who were 84
th and 85
th in 24:21.5 and 24:22.8, respectively.

The University of Chicago earned the region's automatic berth to the national meet by winning the team title with 36 points. The Maroons' also had the individual champ in Evelyn Battleson-Gunkel, who finished in 21:11.4.
