Goodell skyrockets up Grinnell 5000-meter run chart with stellar performance at Jim Duncan Invitational

DES MOINES, Iowa - Brian Goodell '24 skyrocketed up the Grinnell College men's track and field 5000-meter chart at the Jim Duncan Invitational Friday.


Running on Drake Stadium's historic blue oval against elite competition, Goodell ran the 5000-meter run in 14 minutes, 43.20 seconds to move from fifth to second on Grinnell's all-time chart. Finishing third in the race, Goodell is now just 2 seconds off the school record set in 1994.

Also in the 5000, Bradley Ramsey '24 was 14th in 15:33.07, James Snyder '26 placed 19th in 16:16.45 and Sebastian Manza '27 was 22nd in 16:19.52.

Luca Fornari '25 had a great day pole vaulting, placing third at 4.40 meters, which is sixth all-time, while Ian Clawson '26 was ninth in the weight throw with a toss of 50.83 meters.

Connor Heagy '26 led Grinnell's charge in the 1500, placing 11th in 4:04.75. Andy Chestovich '26 was 20th in 4:09.39 and Ryan Hill '27 was 26th in 4:24.90.
