MONMOUTH, Ill. - Jake Bell '27 shattered a nearly 50-year-old school record, and Jess Christensen '29 recorded a first-place finish to lead the Grinnell College men's track and field team at the Monmouth Thursday Night Twilight.

Bell's school record came in the discus, where he recorded a runner-up toss of 48.04 meters. That performance, which ranks 45th nationally this season, eclipsed the school record of 47.70 meters set by Tom Briles in 1975.

Christensen sprinted to victory in the 110-meter hurdles, posting a winning time of 15.14 seconds. That ranks third in GC history.

Also on Thursday, Luke Robinson '26 held his own against high-level NCAA foes in the Drake Relays 3000 steeplechase. He finished second in his heat and ninth overall with a career-best time of 9:18.70, which ranks 23rd nationally and third in program history.

Bell added a runner-up finish in the javelin at Monmouth with a toss of 52.98 meters, which ranks fourth all-time at GC. Other runners-up for Grinnell were Eli Grzelewski '29 in the 200 (21.86 seconds, fourth in GC history), Jack Novelle '26 in the high jump (1.91 meters), Ian Clawson '26 in the hammer throw (51.22 meters) and the 4x100 relay team of Jake Logue '28, George Stenberg '29, Jesse Miller '28 and Grzelewski (42.54, tied for second all-time at GC).

Grzelewski and Miller were third and fifth in the 100 with times of 10.73 and 11.00, respectively. Those clockings rank third and 10th in GC history. Jacob Schomberg '28 placed third in the 400 hurdles in 1:01.15.

Caden Pfister '27 and Ilem Leisher '27 were fourth in the 400 and 110 hurdles in 51.67 and 15.45, while Christensen and Keaton Fitzgerald '26 were fifth in the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 6.33 meters and 11.68.
