Grinnell men's track and field team gets good tuneup for MWC Championships

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Grinnell College men's track and field team tuned up for next weekend's Midwest Conference Championships with a strong performance at Saturday's Fighting Scots Invitational.

Grinnell boasted two champs on the afternoon, James Snyder '26 in the 5000-meter run (16 minutes, 5.04 seconds) and Jake Bell '27 in the discus (46.34 meters).

Runners-up for the Pioneers were Ben Abelow '28 in the 1500 (4:03.39), David In '28 in the 5000 (16:14.86), Jess Christensen '29 in the 110 hurdles (15.10, third all-time at GC) and triple jump (12.53 meters), Greyson Imm '28 in the 3000 steeplechase (10:26.23) and Ian Clawson '26 in the hammer throw (50.41 meters). Grinnell was also second in the 4x400 relay as Linus O'Brien '28, Andy Chestovich '26, George Stenberg '29 and Caden Pfister '27 ran 3:24.64.

Third place went to Jesse Miller '29 in the 200 (22.48), Spencer Lyau '29 in the 1500 (4:03.73), Jacob Schomberg '28 in the 400 hurdles (1:00.12), Tyler Ching '26 in the 3000 steeplechase (10:42.14) and Zane Maxwell '29 in the javelin (43.34 meters). Also for Grinnell, Caleb Leopoldo '28 threw 42.77 meters in the hammer throw which ranks sixth in program history.

Grinnell's Luke Robinson '26 also competed Saturday in the Musco Twilight hosted by the University of Iowa. He was 14th in the 800 in 1:57.15.
