Grinnell women shoot out to early lead at Golfweek October Classic

SANDESTIN, Fla. - Fresh off winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) title, the Grinnell College women's golf team has continued that momentum against some of the nation's best.

The Pioneers jumped out to the lead at the Golfweek October Classic Sunday at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, shooting a 312 to tie co-leader Williams College in the 24-team event.

Kavya Keshav '26, the SLIAC individual champion, led Grinnell on Sunday with a 1-over-par 73. That put her in a fifth-place tie in a field of 120 golfers.

Amy Nguyen '26 was next in line for Grinnell, shooting a 74 for eighth place. Waverly Yang '28 was next in line with a 75, good for 13th place. Emily Lackershire '27 added a 78 and Vidushi Keni '26 came in at 79.

The event continues through Tuesday.
