GRINNELL, Iowa – Big performances at the Liz Wuertz Invitational Saturday gave Grinnell College's men's track and field team just the preparation it needed for next weekend's Midwest Conference Championships.
Ilem Leisher '27 broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a clocking of 8.90 seconds, topping his previous mark by .01 of a second.
Jack Pennachio '28 ran the fourth-fastest hurdles time at GC in 9.43.
Caden Pfister '27 and
Jesse Miller '28 recorded the third- and fourth-best 200-meter times in program history with clockings of 22.84 and 22.87, respectively. They finished sixth and eighth in the event.
Ian Clawson '26 was third in the weight throw with a toss of 16.05 meters,
Jack Novelle '26 was fifth in the high jump at 1.86 meters and
Murphy Dykstra '27 and Pfister were fifth and eighth in the triple jump at 12.45 meters and 11.96.
Jack Reed '27 added an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 5.47 meters.
Andy Chestovich '26 finished seventh in the 800 with a time of 1:59.14. In the 60 prelims, Miller ran 7.20 for the sixth-best time in program history.
The 4x400 relay team of
Xavier James '25, Chestovich, Pfister and
Linus O'Brien '28 ran 3:28.84 to finish fourth. That is the eighth-best time in program history.
The MWC Championships are next weekend in Monmouth, Ill.
