Kevin Carpenter shoots all-time top 20 score for GC men's golf team

MUNDELEIN, Ill. - Kevin Carpenter '25 recorded the 18th-best score in program history while leading the Grinnell College men's golf team Friday at the Forester Spring Invite.

Carpenter shot a 1-under-par 71 at Countryside Golf Club and is tied for 12th in a field of 108 golfers. As a team, Grinnell is 15th with a first-day total of 307.

Carpenter had four birdies on the day. Roger Smith '28 and Thornton Walker '25, who also had four birdies apiece, recorded scores of 75 and 78, respectively.

Eshaan Sethi '25, with one birdie, shot an 83 and John Robinson '25 tallied an 86.

Host Lake Forest College is the first-round leader with a 281 and Wheaton College's Jonah Swartz is the individual leader at 66.

The meet continues Saturday.
