Hannah Roth improves on 3000 steeplechase school record at Kip Janvrin Invite

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Already the school record-holder in the 3000-meter steeplechase, Grinnell College's Hannah Roth '27 bettered that time by more than 3 seconds at the Kip Janvrin Open Thursday.


Roth finished second in a field of 20 runners at the meet hosted by Simpson College with a clocking of 11 minutes, 10.52 seconds. That time was not only an improvement on her school mark of 11:14.05, but also ranks 27th at the NCAA D-III level.

Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 ran an 11:57.21 in the race, an improvement of more than 12 seconds from her previous best while ranking eighth in program history. She was 13th in the race, while Diana Barba '26 placed 15th in 12:22.21.

Hannah Roark '26 presented a strong showing in the 5000, running the fifth-best time in program history with a clocking of 17:50.17. She placed ninth in the event. Genevieve Madigan '28 was 18th in the race in 18:15.22.

Tennyson Shultz '28 ran the 1500 in 4:49.71, good for 19th place and a clocking that ranks eighth all-time at GC. 

The meet continues Friday.
