Grinnell men's distance medley team runs fastest time for program in 26 years

Quartet accomplished feat at historic Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa – Grinnell College's men's track and field distance medley quartet ran the program's fastest time in 26 years at the Drake Relays Saturday morning.
 
Competing in the Iowa College portion of the event on a bright and sunny day at Drake Stadium, the tandem of Connor Heagy '26, Caden Pfister '27, Andy Chestovich '26 and Luke Robinson '26 ran the race on the blue oval in 10 minutes, 21.68 seconds.
 
That is the fastest time at GC since a quartet in 1999 ran 10:19.19.
 
Heagy ran the opening 1200 meters in 3:10.51, Pfister followed with a split of 51.52 in the 400 and Chestovich recorded an 800 time of 1:58.27. Robinson finished off the race with a 4:21.98 over 1600 meters.
 
Central College won the 10-team event in 10:06.15.
