Pioneer women golfers 6th after opening day of highly-competitive meet

NORTHFIELD, Minn. - Grinnell College is sixth after the opening day in a loaded field at the St. Olaf/Carleton Spring Invite women's golf event Saturday.

The Pioneers shot a 328 at Willingers Golf Club and are one shot behind two other teams. St. Catherine is the leader at 317.

Vidushi Keni '26 led Grinnell with a 79, good for a fifth-place tie in the 71-golfer field. Amy Nguyen '26 is 15th with an 82, while Kavya Keshav '26 was close behind at 83. Also for Grinnell, Emily Lackershire '27 and Waverly Yang '28 shot 84s and Mary Li '25 had an 86.

Keni had three birdies on the day, Yang recorded two and Nguyen, Keshav and Li posted one each.

The individual leader is Laura Beltman of Bethel with a 2-over-par 74.

The meet concludes Sunday.
