DES MOINES, Iowa – Four members of the Grinnell College women's track and field team destroyed the school record in the distance medley relay on a bright and beautiful Saturday morning at the Drake Relays.

Competing in the Iowa College division of the event on the historic blue oval at Drake Stadium, the quartet of Tennyson Shultz '28, Maile Crowe '25, Sindri Bonner '28 and Hannah Roark '26 ran the race in 12 minutes, 12.88 seconds. That betters the previous school mark of 12:37.28 set last year at Drake, a quartet of which Roark and Crowe were a part.

Shultz began Saturday's race with a split of 3:43.99 over the 1200-meter portion. Crowe ran 58.82 in the 400, Bonner followed with a 2:21.72 over 800 meters and Roark finished off the final 1600 in 5:08.36.

The Pioneers finished third in the nine-team event, which was won by Wartburg College in 11:58.44.
