Lucas Fadden opens NCAA D-III Championships with 200-meter All-American performance

Grinnell sprinter finishes 13th to claim 2nd-team All-America honors

GENEVA, Ohio - Grinnell College's Lucas Fadden '26 began his trek at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a performance in the 200-meter dash prelims Thursday, earning second-team All-America honors in the process.


Fadden placed fifth in the opening prelim heat at the SPIRE Institute, running a time of 21.42 seconds. The fourth-place finisher posted the same time but was awarded the higher place when the clocking was stretched out to thousandths of a second, 21.411 to 21.415.

The Grinnell sprinter finished 13th overall in the race. Sam Blaskowski of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse had the fastest prelim time of 20.56.

Fadden is now a two-time All-American, having earned first-team honors in the 100 a year ago. He will compete in the 100 prelims at 2:30 p.m. Central time Friday with the hopes of reaching Saturday's finals.
