GENEVA, Ohio - Lucas Fadden '26 wrapped up his time at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in stellar fashion Saturday.

The Grinnell College standout captured the Pioneers' highest men's national finish in 24 years, sprinting to a fifth-place finish at the SPIRE Institute. He ran the race in 10.46 seconds, just .04 off his school record, while becoming the Pioneers' first multiple-time first-team All-American since Jonathan Lave in 1990.

Running out of lane 2, Fadden easily eclipsed the 12th seed with which he entered the Championships. Fadden was neck-in-neck with most of the contenders in the race, and equaled the time of 10.46 by fourth-place finisher Jevontae Fearwell of Catholic. When rounded out to the thousandth of a second, Farewell had a time of 10.452 and Fadden a clocking of 10.458.

The winner of the race was 2024 Olympic Trials qualifier Sam Blaskowski of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He broke the tape in 10.14.

Fadden's appearance at nationals was an overwhelming success. He captured second-team All-America honors in the 200 dash on Thursday, and improved on last year's eighth-place finish in the 100.

The last Pioneer to post as high a finish as Fadden was John Aerni, who was fifth in the 3000 steeplechase in 2001.

On a related note, Emory University graduate student Eva Carchidi, who competed for Grinnell as an undergrad, captured top honors in the women's 400 dash right after Fadden's race. She ran a personal-best time of 53.94.
