Record-shattering performance propels Grinnell men's track and field team at Monmouth meet

Results

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Lucas Fadden '26 broke another school record Saturday, shattering Grinnell College's 34-year-old 200-meter dash mark at the Fighting Scots Invitational.


Fadden ran the race in 21.10 seconds, comfortably beating Hall of Famer Darren Young's mark of 21.55 established in 1991. He was second in the event with a time that ranks ninth nationally. Also in the 200, Jesse Miller '28 ran a 22.05, which is fourth in program history.

Fadden won the 100 in 10.48 and Jake Logue '28 placed third in 10.92, a time that is sixth in program history.

Jack Novelle '26 went 1.92 meters in the high jump, which ranks seventh all-time. He was second in the event.

Grinnell was also second in both relays, as Logue, Miller, Keaton Fitzgerald '26 and Jake Warren '28 ran 43.16 in the 4x100 and Clay Glessner '28, Caden Pfister '27, Andy Chestovich '26 and Linus O'Brien '28 ran the 4x400 in 3:25.88. The 4x100 unit's time ranks ninth in program history.

In the 800, Connor Heagy '26 led a strong Grinnell charge by taking second in 1:56.48. Chestovich placed third in 1:56.89, Luke Robinson '26 was fourth in 1:57.24 and Jason Newman '28 took sixth in 1:59.67.

Ilem Leisher '27 took third in the 110 hurdles in 15.85, Xavier James '25 placed fifth in 16.57 and Jacob Schomberg '28 was sixth in 16.82. James and Schomberg placed second and sixth in the 400 hurdles in 57.03 and 1:01.42, respectively.

David In '28 and Keely Miyamoto '26 were third and fifth in the 5000 with times of 16:31.48 and 16:58.34. O'Brien added a fifth-place finish in the 400 in 50.73.

Jake Bell '27 placed second in the discus and javelin with tosses of 41.91 meters and 47.79. Ian Clawson '26 took second in the hammer at 50.78 meters, fifth in the discus with a toss of 39.56 and sixth in the shot put at 12.88.

Miller placed second in the long jump with a leap of 6.54 meters, and in the triple jump Casey Oliveira '27 placed fourth at 13.03 meters and Murphy Dykstra '27 took fifth at 12.76.

The Pioneers travel to Appleton, Wis., next weekend for the Midwest Conference Championships.
