Grinnell women's tennis team to face UW-Whitewater in opening round of NCAA D-III Tourney

FOREST PARK, Mo. – For the second time in a month's span, Grinnell College's women's tennis team will square off against the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
 
The squads will play in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at 10 a.m. Friday in a regional hosted by Washington University in St. Louis. Action will take place at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in Forest Park, Mo.
 
Grinnell advanced to the event by winning the Midwest Conference Team Tournament for the 14th time overall and fifth season in a row. The Pioneers, 18-9 and ranked 41st nationally, defeated UW-Whitewater 4-3 in the opening round of the Midwest Invite in early April.
 
The Warhawks, ranked 56th nationally and 14-8 overall, are fresh off winning the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Final Four AQ.
 
Friday's winner will take on WashU at 10 a.m. Saturday. In Friday's other first-round match, Sewanee meets Transylvania. That winner faces Kenyon on Saturday.
