GC women's cross country team posts another impressive performance with runner-up finish at Central

PELLA, Iowa - Grinnell College's women's cross country team put together yet another impressive performance Friday afternoon, racing to a runner-up finish at the Central Dutch Invitational.


The Pioneers, ranked fifth in the Midwest Region, scored 42 points in the 10-team affair and finished only behind the nationally-ranked host school. Central, fourth in the region and 27th nationally, won the title with 19 points.

Hannah Roark '26 led Grinnell's charge with a runner-up finish in the 87-runner race, touring the 6-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 20.4 seconds. Maddy Stevens of Central took first in 22:57.8.

Grinnell had two other top-10 finishers, as Sindri Bonner '28 was seventh in 23:58.1 and Morgan Karow '26 placed eighth in 23:58.9. Rounding out the list of scorers were two young runners, as Arushi Kharbanda '29 was 12th in 24:31.9 and Tennyson Shultz '28 placed 13th in 24:37.9.

Also for the Pioneers, Talia Harrison '26 placed 14th in 24:39.8 and Cindy Wang '28 took 15th in 24:43.7.

Grinnell will compete in the Wartburg Regional Preview next Saturday.
