Pioneer men shatter distance medley relay that had stood for more than a half-century

WAVERLY, Iowa - Grinnell College's distance medley relay quartet broke a school record that was more than a half-century old Friday night at the Wartburg Qualifier.

The group of Luke Robinson '26, Caden Pfister '27, Spencer Lyau '29 and Ben Abelow '28 ran the 4000-meter race in 10 minutes, 20.26 seconds. That shattered the previous Pioneer best of 10:28.40 set in 1971.

In events Saturday, Lucas Fadden '26 placed third in the 200 in 21.83 and Ian Clawson '26 was seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 16.93 meters.

Fadden will compete in the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships next weekend.
