Grinnell men cruise past the competition at own Dick Young Classic

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's men's track and field team made the most of the home track Saturday, easily taking the team title at the Dick Young Classic.

Competing on a chilly and cloudy day at the Darren Young Track and Field Complex, the Pioneers tallied 201 points to easily beat runner-up Monmouth's score of 132.

Grinnell won six events on the day, including two titles from Jake Bell '27 in the discus and javelin with throws of 45.18 meters and 45.35, respectively.

Other champs were Caden Pfister '27 in the 200-meter dash (22.48 seconds), Luke Robinson '26 in the 1500 (4:02.93), Jesse Miller '28 in the long jump (6.47 meters) and Jess Christensen '29 in the triple jump (12.94 meters).

Runners-up were Andy Chestovich '26 in the 800 (1:58.95), Ilem Leisher '27 in the 110 hurdles (15.38), Greyson Imm '28 in the 3000 steeplechase (10:30.40), Jack Novelle '26 in the high jump (1.85 meters) and 4x400 relay team of Linus O'Brien '28, Spencer Lyau '9, Chestovich and Pfister (3:29.56). Leisher's time in the hurdles ranks fifth in GC history.

Third place went to Miller in the 200 (22.58), Christensen in the 110 hurdles (15.49), Oleg Brennan '28 in the javelin (43.16 meters) and Keaton Fitzgerald '26 in the triple jump (11.75 meters).
