Runner-up finishes spark Grinnell women's track and field team at Monmouth meet

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Jessie Goodman '26 and Keelin Swisher '29 each sprinted to a pair of runner-up finishes to spark the Grinnell College women's track and field team at the Monmouth Thursday Night Twilight.

Goodman recorded performances of 1 minute, 7.97 seconds in the 400-meter hurdles and 15.85 in the 100 hurdles, times that rank fourth and second in program history, respectively.

Swisher ran the open 100 in 12.45 and 200 in 26.13. The 100 time is third in GC history and 200 time ranks seventh.

Also placing second was Rajanea Landers '28 in the triple jump with a leap of 10.59 meters. Kate Solano '29 was fourth in that event at 10.10 meters.

Capturing third place were Landers in the 100 (12.65), Solano in the 400 (1:02.68), Juniper Schwartzman '27 in the javelin (35.78 meters) and Steph Kama-Kama '28 in the long jump (5.14 meters). Kama-Kama's effort ranks third in GC history. Kama-Kama took fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.51 meters, while Lily Mayo '28 had the same placing in the 100 hurdles in 18.06.

Fifth place went to Avery Lampe '29 in the 400 (1:05.87), Kirsten Kelly '29 in the high jump (1.46 meters) and Kylie Galowitz '26 in the shot put (11.32 meters).

Also Thursday at the Drake Relays, Hannah Roth '27 competed against several high-level NCAA foes in the 3000 steeplechase. She finished 16th in 11:43.96.
