Grinnell women's soccer team continues impressive showing in MWC play

Box Score BELOIT, Wis. – The Grinnell College women's soccer team continued its impressive run in Midwest Conference play Saturday with a 4-2 victory at Beloit College.

Grinnell, 5-1 in the league and 5-6-1 overall, has won five consecutive MWC contests since dropping its opener. Beloit fell to 2-3 in the MWC and 6-5-1 in all games.

The Pioneers shot out to a 3-0 halftime lead, as Kathryn Vincent '13 scored in the 11th minute, Eva Smith '16 found the back of the net in the 37th minute and Andie Semlow '16 scored in the 43rd minute on an assist by Dabney Hofammann '15.

It was the second goal of the season for Vincent and first for both Smith and Semlow.

Beloit tacked on goals in the 46th and 57th minutes before Grinnell put the contest out of reach when Kristen Stacey '16 scored in the 77th minute for her first goal of the year.

Grinnell won the shots battle 12-7, with Maddie Gray '16 taking three shots and Vincent and Semlow two apiece.

Jordan Young '14 earned the win at keeper while playing the first half. Katy Oldach '16 worked the second half and had a save.

Grinnell plays at Ripon College next Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
