Pioneers drop 2 matches at Simpson Invite

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Grinnell College volleyball team dropped a pair of three-set matches at the Simpson Invitational Friday.

The Pioneers fell 25-13, 25-8 and 27-25 to host Simpson College and then fell 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15 to Nebraska Wesleyan University.

In the match with Simpson, Claire Weidman '15 had seven kills and Bethine Moore '13 dished out 14 assists. Sydney McClendon '16 and Weidman each served two aces, while Lindsay Fujimoto '15 had 13 digs and Weidman contributed 10.

Shelby Carroll '13 and Michelle Briggs '13 had two blocks apiece.

Against Nebraska Wesleyan, Weidman pounded down eight kills, Moore had 23 assists and Fujimoto served up three aces.

Fujimoto also had 13 digs and Cheyenne Hickox '15 had four blocks.

The tourney concludes Saturday for the 2-9 Pioneers with a 10 a.m. match against Coe College and 12:15 p.m. meeting with Saint Benedict.
