Regionally-ranked Vikings stop Pioneer women's soccer team

Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa – Regionally-ranked Augustana College got a pair of hat tricks to propel itself to a 6-1 victory over the Grinnell College women's soccer team Sunday afternoon at Springer Field.

Kelly Farrell and Taylor Moesle each found the back of the net three times for the Vikings, who are rated seventh in the Central Region. The visitors are now 7-2 on the season while Grinnell dipped to 3-6-1.

Augustana led 3-0 at halftime and scored three more times in the second half before Grinnell got its goal. In the 72nd minute, Kathryn Vincent '13 delivered a nice pass to Maddie Gray '16 on the left side. Gray received the ball and delivered a goal for the second time in as many days. It was Vincent's first assist of the season.

Augustana won the shots battle 17-8, with Allison Moore '13 getting two shots for Grinnell and Patty Murphy-Geiss '14, Kristen Stacey '16, Morgan Sullivan '15, Nicole Sipfle '13, Maggie Mamantov '16 and Gray one each.

Jordan Young '14 made five saves at keeper for Grinnell in the first half and Katy Oldach '16 had three in the second half.

Grinnell is back at Springer Field on Wednesday to entertain Cornell College in a Midwest Conference matchup. Game time is 4 p.m.
