Grinnell women's soccer team drops contest at Simpson

Box Score INDIANOLA, Iowa – Grinnell College doubled the shots total of host Simpson College, but the Storm still managed to eke out a 1-0 women's soccer victory Wednesday night.

The lone goal of the game came in the 20th minute as Madison Densmore scored on a header off a corner kick.

Grinnell won the shots battle 10-5, with Patty Murphy-Geiss '14, Rachael Koester '13 and Abby Jaeger '14 getting two apiece for the Pioneers. Morgan Sullivan '15, Sarah Jensen '15, Elle Silverman '15 and Kathryn Vincent '13 all had one shot.

Of Grinnell's shots, five were on goal, those coming from Murphy-Geiss, Koester, Sullivan, Silverman and Jaeger.

Keepers Jordan Young '14 and Katy Oldach '16 shared duties in the net for Grinnell. Young worked the first half and Oldach the second, with the latter getting a save.

Simpson improved to 2-1 with the victory. Grinnell, 0-1-1 overall, hits the road this weekend to face Augsburg on Saturday and Buena Vista on Sunday.
