Grinnell women's soccer team remains in MWC title hunt with shutout win

Box Score APPLETON, Wis. – Grinnell College's women's soccer team kept its Midwest Conference title hopes alive Saturday with a 1-0 shutout victory at Lawrence University.

The shutout, Grinnell's 10th of the season, pushed the Pioneers to 6-2-1 in the league and 11-5-1 overall as they won for the fourth time in their last five outings.

The lone goal came in the 13th minute when Maddie Gray '16 scored on Eva Smith's '16 assist. It was Gray's second goal of the year and Smith's fourth assist.

Jordan Young '14 and Katy Oldach '17 each played a half at keeper for Grinnell, with both making two saves.

The Pioneers outshot the hosts 17-7, with Kristen Stacey '16 taking five shots, Patty Murphy-Geiss '14 and Abby Jaeger '14 three apiece and Sarah Jensen '15 two shots.

Grinnell plays MWC leader St. Norbert College at 11 a.m. Sunday in De Pere, Wis.
