Box Score RIPON, Wis. – The Grinnell College women's soccer team concluded its regular season with a 2-1 hard-fought setback at Ripon College Saturday afternoon in Midwest Conference play.
The Pioneers' season continues, though, as earlier this week they sewed up a spot in the league's postseason tourney. Grinnell is the fourth seed in the tourney and will play at top-seeded Lake Forest College Friday.
Ripon took a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, but the visitors tied the contest in the 37th minute on
Carolyn Silverman's '17 team-high eighth goal of the year.
It remained 1-1 through halftime and until the 85th minute when the Red Hawks scored to secure the win. Ripon, the second seed in the MWC Tourney, improved to 8-2 in league play and 12-6 overall. Grinnell is 6-3-1 in the MWC and 10-7-1 overall.
Ripon narrowly won the shots battle 19-18. Silverman had seven of Grinnell's shots, while
Lauren Hurley '18 and
Elle Silverman '15 had three each.
