Box Score STORM LAKE, Iowa – The Grinnell College women's soccer team posted its first win of the season in a big way Sunday, shutting down Buena Vista 2-0 in a non-conference test.
Both Pioneer goals came in the first half as they moved to 1-3-1 on the young season. Buena Vista dipped to 1-1-1.
Regan Kasprak '19 worked a masterful game at keeper for Grinnell, recording five saves in the shutout.
Carolyn Silverman '17 scored Grinnell's first goal of the season just five minutes into the contest when she found the back of the net.
A mere seven minutes later, Silverman assisted a goal by
Nora Sahel '17 to make it 2-0. The Pioneers cruised from there.
Grinnell more than doubled the shots of the hosts, winning that battle 14-6.
Lauren Hurley '18 had five shots for Grinnell, including two on goal, while Silverman added three shots with two of those on goal.
Valencia Alvarez '20 and Sahel had two shots each.
The Pioneers meet another Iowa Conference team Tuesday when Coe College visits Springer Field. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
