GC women's soccer team preps for rematch with Lawrence in MWC Tournament

Pioneers, Vikings meet in semifinal round at 1:30 p.m. Friday.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Not even a week after playing Lawrence University in the regular-season finale for each team, Grinnell College's women's soccer squad will seek revenge Friday in the opening round of the Midwest Conference Tournament.


Grinnell (8-5-3, 5-2-1 MWC) earned the fourth seed and will play second-seeded Lawrence (13-4-2 7-0-1 MWC) at 2 p.m. on Mohr Field. The other semifinal pits top-seeded Lake Forest College and fourth-seeded Beloit College at 11 a.m.

The winners play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Mohr Field for the title and automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Grinnell is fourth in the league in scoring average at 1.50 goals per outing, and fifth in opponent scoring average, also 1.50. Lawrence is second in both categories, averaging 3.00 goals and giving up 0.50.

Grinnell, led by three-year All-MWC first-teamer Giada Bambi '27, has also got strong offensive support from Ramona Delborne '26, who is eighth in league play for goals scored with four. Keeper Peyton Dixon '27 is fifth in the league in goals against average with 1.33.

For Lawrence, Maya Alberts is second in the league with six goals and two other players have five each. The Vikings' keeper, Ella Lynse, is second in goals against average at 0.51.
