Multiple strong performances propel Pioneers to runner-up finish at Darren Young Classic

Results

GRINNELL, Iowa - Grinnell College's women posted two event victories and added several more high finishes to take second place in its own Darren Young Classic Saturday.

Hannah Roark '26 won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 17.39 seconds at the Bear Center Field House, the second-best time at Grinnell and the best since 2012. Sindri Bonner '28 added a victory in the 3000 in 10:54.60.

The Pioneers scored 117 points in the nine-team meet and finished behind only Central College's 149.

Bonner led a strong charge of Pioneers in the 3000, as she was followed by Genevieve Madigan '28 (second in 11:11.31), Beatrice Ebel '28 (fourth in 11:28.94), Diana Barba (fifth in 11:36.02), Katya Lackey '27 (seventh in 11:43.69) and Quinby Rainey '27 (eighth in 11:52.16).

The distance medley relay team of Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25, Caitlin Ong '26, Allison Rabbani '25 and Cindy Wang '28 placed second in 13:59.39, while Maile Crowe '25 and Tennyson Shultz '28 were third in the 400 and 800, respectively. Shultz ran 2:22.97, the fifth-best time in program history, and Crowe finished in 1:02.73.

Rajanea Landers '28 was fourth in the 60 with a time of 8.30, which ranks seventh in program history. Ava Taylor '25 was fifth in 8.44 and Lily Mayo '28 took seventh in 8.49.

Crowe was fourth in the 200 in 26.99, which ranks fourth in program history. Also placing fourth were Klaire Thompson '27 in the 400 (1:05.34) and Leah Barringer '28 in the pole vault (2.65 meters). Mayo and Landers were fifth and sixth in the long jump at 4.90 meters and 4.87. Kylie Galowitz '26 placed sixth in the shot put with a toss of 10.82 meters and Jessica Goodman '26 was sixth in the 60 hurdles with a time of 10.45.
