WAVERLY, Iowa – Grinnell College's women's track and field team got a great tune-up for the Midwest Conference Championships as several individuals recorded strong showings at the Liz Wuertz Invitational Saturday.
The Pioneers were paced by
Hannah Roark '26, who won the 3000-meter run in a scorching time of 10 minutes, 14.03 seconds. That ranks second in program history and is less than 2 seconds off Hall of Famer Sarah Spencer's school record. Grinnell had other top-notch performances in the 3000, as
Hannah Roth '27 was fourth in 10:46.45 and
Emma Wharton-Hsieh '27 placed seventh in 11:13.80.
Lily Mayo '28 was second in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters, which ranks third in program history and the best at GC since 2009. Mayo was also sixth in the long jump at 4.80 meters and teammate
Rajanea Landers '28 was right behind in seventh at 4.79 meters.
Sindri Bonner '28 was third in the 800 in 2:25.26, 10
th all-time at Grinnell, and teammate
Noelle Vu '28 placed seventh in 2:30.10. In the mile,
Tennyson Shultz '28 placed third in 5:23.59 and
Genevieve Madigan '28 was fifth in 5:25.53.
Landers and
Maile Crowe '25 were fourth and seventh in the 200 in 26.80 and 26.97, respectively. Landers now ranks third in program history and Crowe is fifth.
Kylie Galowitz '26 was fourth in the shot put and weight throw with tosses of 11.79 meters and 13.92. She now ranks third at GC in the weight throw and fifth in the shot put.
Landers added a fifth-place finish in the triple jump at 10.15 meters. In the 60 hurdle prelims, Jessie Goodman '26 ran 10.29, which is fifth in program history.
Shultz, Vu, Roark and Crowe teamed up to place third in the 4x400 relay in 4:10.73, which ranks fifth in program history.
The MWC Championships are next weekend in Monmouth, Ill.
