Grinnell's Roth, Clawson collect MWC Performer of the Week Track and Field honors

GRINNELL, Iowa - Following a big weekend of competing, Grinnell College was well-represented in the area of Midwest Conference Outdoor Track and Field Performers of the Week.

Hannah Roth '27 was named the league's Women's Track Performer of the Week, while Ian Clawson '26 collected the Men's Field Performer of the Week honor.

Clawson, from Salem, Ore. (South Salem Senior), recorded one personal-best and a pair of season-bests in the throws at Saturday's Dick Young Classic. His throw of 53.36 meters in the hammer ranks top in the MWC this season and 45th nationally, while his personal-best effort of 44.62 meters in the discus is fourth in the league and ranks sixth in program history. He also threw 12.48 meters in the shot put.

Roth, from Annapolis, Md. (Roland Park Country School), shattered Grinnell's school record in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Jim Duncan Invitational on the historic blue oval at Drake Stadium. Roth ran the race in 11 minutes, 14.05 seconds to easily beat Shannon Young's mark of 11:21.80 set in 2017. Roth's time not only leads the MWC, but ranks 31st nationally.

Other Performers of the Week were Cornell College's Isaac vanWestrienen (Men's Track) and Ripon College's Bridget Finn (Women's Field).
