Grinnell crowns 5 champs while winning title at Mount Mercy meet

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Grinnell College athletes claimed five event titles as the Pioneer women's track and field squad won the team crown at Saturday's DeBacker Invitational.

Champs for Grinnell were Maile Crowe '25 in the 200-meter dash (26.57 seconds), Hannah Roark '26 in the 1500 (4:40.78, third-best in GC history and best for the program since 2014), Hannah Roth '27 in the 5000 (18:09.17, seventh in GC history), Diana Barba '26 in the 30000 steeplechase (12:18.49) and the 4x100 relay team of Klaire Thompson '27, Ava Taylor '25, Crowe and Rajanea Landers '28 (49.81, third all-time at G

Runners-up for Grinnell were Sindri Bonner '28 in the 800 (2:23.88), Genevieve Madigan '28 in the 5000 (18:13.54, ninth all-time), Juniper Schwartzman '27 in the javelin (34.96 meters) and Landers in the long jump (5.05 meters, fourth all-time) and triple jump (10.54 meters, third in GC history).

Taking third were Tennyson Shultz '28 in the 1500 (4:50.51, 10th all-time), Emma Wharton-Hsieh '27 in the 5000 (18:57.99) and Jessica Goodman '26 in the 400 hurdles (1:10.95).

Fourth place went to Crowe in the 400 (1:01.11), Beatrice Ebel '28 in the 800 (2:26.70), Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 in the 5000 (19:10.65) and Josie Shiraz '28 in the 400 hurdles (1:14.25). Grinnell got fifth-place finishes from Cindy Wang '25 in the 800 (2:27.02), Talia Harrison '26 in the 5000 (19:39.87), Goodman in the 100 hurdles (16.85), Melanie Oden '25 in the triple jump (9.45 meters) and Kylie Galowitz '26 in the discus (35.75 meters).

Grinnell finished with 162 points, well ahead of runner-up and host Mount Mercy's total of 139.
