Event victories send Grinnell women to team title at Cornell Invite

MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Five event titles and several other high finishes propelled the Grinnell College women's track and field squad to the team title at Saturday's Cornell Invitational.

The Pioneers scored 163 points to edge the host school by six points in the six-team meet.

Individual champs for Grinnell were Rajanea Landers '28 in the 200-meter dash (26.66 seconds), Maile Crowe '25 in the 400 (1:03.76), Noelle Vu '28 in the 800 (2:26.89) and Genevieve Madigan '28 in the 5000 (18:46.18). Grinnell also won the 4x100 relay in 50.47, the fifth-best time in program history. Members of the quartet were Jessica Goodman '26, Ava Taylor '25, Crowe and Landers.

Grinnell dominated the 5000. Besides Madigan's victories, Pioneers rounding out the top five were Emma Wharton-Hsieh '27 (19:07.39), Cindy Wang '28 (19:23.17), Talia Harrison '26 (19:41.22) and Diana Barba '26 (19:42.61).

Goodman was third and fourth in the 400 hurdles and 100 hurdles in times of 1:14.98 and 17.16, respectively. Other runners placing third were Taylor in the 200 (27.41), Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 in the 800 (2:30.35), Hannah Roth '27 in the 1500 (5:01.17) and the 4x400 relay team of Kaczmarczyk, Vu, Sindri Bonner '28 and Caitlin Ong 26 (4:30.87).

Sara Booher '25 was second in the shot put with a toss of 11.81 meters, seventh in program history. Kylie Galowitz '26 took fifth in the event at 10.76. Galowitz was third in the hammer (40.89 meters) and fifth in the discus (34.99).

Eleanor Elliott-Rude '25 and Landers were third and fourth in the long jump with leaps of 4.55 and 4.44 meters, while Juniper Schwartzman '27 was third in the javelin with a throw of 32.81 meters.
