Pioneer women's track and field team rakes in several victories at Monmouth meet

MONMOUTH, Ill. - Grinnell College's women's track and field team tuned up for next weekend's league meet by winning seven event titles at Saturday's Fighting Scot Invite.


Individual winners were Tennyson Shultz '28 in the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 21.21 seconds), Sindri Bonner '28 in the 1500 (4:55.39), Jessica Goodman '26 in the 400 hurdles (1:10.63), Hannah Roth '27 in the 3000 steeplechase (11:23.48) and Melanie Oden '25 in the triple jump (9.88 meters). 

Grinnell also won the 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Klaire Thompson '27, Ava Taylor '25, Maile Crowe '25 and Rajanea Landers '28 ran the 4x100 in 49.96 and Noelle Vu '28, Hannah Roark '26, Shultz and Crowe claimed the 4x400 in 4:04.74, the fifth-best time in program history.

Grinnell showed its depth in both the 800 and 1500. In the 800, Vu was second in 2:25.37, Beatrice Ebel '28 took third in 2:27.21, Crystal Kaczmarczyk '25 was fifth in 2:30.01 and Caitlin Ong '26 placed sixth in 2:33.22. Genevieve Madigan '28 was second in the 1500 in 4:55.40, Cindy Wang '28 took fourth in 5:03.99 and Talia Harrison '26 placed sixth in 5:10.17.

Thompson was second in the 400 in 1:04.34 and Goodman placed third in the 100 hurdles in 16.68, which ranks third in program history. Josie Shiraz '28 placed fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:17.81, while sixth place went to Taylor in the 100 (13.05) and Landers in the 200 (26.65).

Kylie Galowitz '26 placed fifth in the hammer with a toss of 42.65 meters, third-best at GC. Eleanor Elliott-Rude '25 was fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.06 meters, fifth in GC history, and Landers placed sixth at 4.89.

Galowitz was also fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.65 meters and discus with an effort of 36.02. Juniper Schwartzman '27 placed third in the javelin with a throw of 35.07 meters and Booher was sixth in the shot put at 11.55.

The league meet is next weekend in Appleton, Wis.
